Impact of Home-based Education, A Journey of Hope: Prabesh’s Story

Born with total deafblindness in a remote village in Kaski, 13-year-old Prabesh spent over a decade in isolation, unable to communicate and confined to his bed. He was identified in 2024 during a home-visit initiative by Deafblind Association Nepal, which provided the specialized support and resource classes necessary to finally unlock his world. Since joining the program, Prabesh has achieved life-changing milestones—moving from lying down to sitting independently, learning to smile at his teachers, and engaging enthusiastically in physiotherapy. However, his progress is currently hindered by a lack of accessible transportation; his parents must physically carry him into taxis, a process that is both risky and exhausting. While his journey from silence to connection brings immense hope, a dedicated school vehicle is now the vital next step to ensuring Prabesh can attend school safely and continue his incredible development..
